Power Cycle Your Modem

Router Tips

Power Cycle Your Modem:

Try turning both your computer and modem completely off for 30 seconds.
If your modem does not have an on/off switch, unplug it from the electrical outlet or surge protector.
Turn your modem back on, and then wait about 15 seconds before turning on your computer.
Your DSL modem may take as long as three or four minutes to re-establish "sync" with the network.
If you don't have connection after five minutes or so, then power cycling hasn't worked.

If the Lights on Your Modem are not Steady:

Make sure your modem is not near or on top of other electrical devices. Devices that can cause interference include stereo speakers, computer monitors, halogen lamps, cordless phones, and the phone base. If your modem was working and you introduced a new electronic device in the area, try moving the new device and power cycling your modem.
Make sure DSL filters are installed on every line in the house that's used by a device like a telephone or fax machine. If you have an unfiltered device in the house, try unplugging that phone or fax machine from the phone jack and power cycle your modem. DSL filters can be purchased inexpensively at Radio Shack and many office supply stores.
If you still can not connect, try disconnecting all other devices on the phone line and then power cycle your modem.
